Before the covid days, I was at a conference and the keynote speaker presented on how to find your uniqueness.
The answer: Personalisation.
Ingredients:
Something you are great at/known for/proficient in.
Something you love to do that makes you happy - any hobby from photography to crocheting and from running to playing the cello. Doesn't matter... as long as it's something you love.
Instructions:
Combine. Tell stories that use the hobby to illustrate, demonstrate, or corroborate the messages/lessons of your proficiency.
Cook. Practice the presentation until it is perfectly caramelised on the outside and gooey and warm on the inside.
Serve. Plate up the presentation and share it with the world.
Rock & roll is a deep part of my personality. I'm a fan. I'm a performer. I'm a creator. Using song lyrics and titles to embed the strategic networking principles I want to share has been a really comfortable... and unique... way to present.
And it's FUN!
I love kicking off a conference with this keynote for a few reasons. First, it's high energy. I incorporate great music and provide a passionate presentation.
Second, it's useful! For the rest of the event, people use the principles I shared in their networking. They meet different people, they talk about different things, they become more strategic. :)
What would be your hobby/proficiency combo? I'd love to know.
